Google spam using WordPress

Normally i wring in Dutch, but what’s the use to write in Dutch if you want the Google Engineers to read your blogpost? Nothing, is there. So this one goes in the English language.

A few minutes ago i started writing a blogpost about a great new blogging tool called Posterous. After publishing this blogpost i opened my dashbaord of this weblog.

My eyes were caught by a few new backlinks that were posted to this weblog, and i was really curious why people wanted to link to me. The stuff i write sometimes is usefull, but a lot of times a bit of crap for the most visitors that come here.

My DashBoard

After hitting some links i was really surprised by the actions those links provide, 1 of the links goes to the following url: http://generic-pharmacy-shop.com/2008/07/indomethacin-medicine.html.
Wordpress Spamming Techniques

When you open this page, it will automatically refresh or redirect to the next url: http://mens4you.com/.

spammy websites

Wich is a bit weird. The content, the title and all other stuff is somehow related, but it’s redirecting to another url. The google engineers will perhaps call it a “cloaking” technique (wich i can understand).

The smart part of these guys, ok, smart thinking, but not the best way to do it, is that they link to blogs. Most of the blogs on the internet have the option to use TrackBack urls. Based on a trackback url (if not secured) will automatically create a backlink to your blogpost. Some examples can be seen here: http://andrescholten.nl/index.php/firefox-3-record-download-dag/ (look below the comments and you will find a trackback).
As you now will see, that page on andrescholten.nl will link back to the blogpost with the trackback. If the owners of this WordPress Google Spam idea had used this technique too (not linking to the mainpage, but to a blogpost itself), perhaps they even would have gotten a few backlinks wich could have helped them to gain some rankings in google.

For now? I hope the Google Engineers will find this kind of Spam as fast as possible, because we all know how easy it is to setup a WordPress weblog, don’t we?
