How to Twitter!

Last night I received from twitter rookie Jan Meijer the question how to use Twitter.

In the next posting I will handle 3 points of the way I see it to make your Twitter account a success.

1. After you sign up, it’s the best to use a Twitter tool for receiving or sending Tweets to your Twitter account. Some Twittertools wich can be very useful are Twitbin (firefox), Twitteroo (windows), twitterrific (Mac), Twitter mobile.

2. To gain your own twitter network (followers) u have to follow other twitterers. But you have to make notice of the fact that inviting to many twitterers at once will show a weird amount of people you are following and the amount of people that follow you. If you follow 500 people and only 5 are following you, the most users of Twitter will think you are just spamming them and they will not start to follow you.

3. Gain access to Twittermail as soon as possible. Twittermail has a feature where it will send you all the @replies to your name by e-mail. In this case, you will never forget to answer a direct Tweet to you…this can kill you…just think about it. Somebody starts to talk to you, but you never reply to them…who will still like you after that?

4. Make sure to keep up with all the interesting stuff that is posted threw Twitter. A lot of new sites and startup’s are posted there. Collect a good collection of interesting people and follow their hyperlinks: Look at BackTrackr for all the available users.
